This photo of Jurong Lake was made to look gloomy for a reason. A few years back, they spruced up the whole area a little to make it into a nice, open recreation park attractive to daily joggers, cyclists and nature lovers. But apparently, that's not enough. Now, they're in talks for plans to develop it further - such as by adding "office space, a commercial centre with retail shops, four to five hotels and a resort or theme park". This is getting disturbing. Why can't they just let it remain as it is and not transform it into some money-making machine? So I guess a few years later, those trees in this picture are going to be replaced by concrete, cement, bricks and...more concrete. As if we don't have enough of it already.

Yes, would be a shame to see this ruined by greed cloaked in the name of progress.
