The Division

This photo of Jurong Lake was made to look gloomy for a reason.

A few years back, they spruced up the whole area a little to make it into a nice, open recreation park attractive to daily joggers, cyclists and nature lovers. But apparently, that's not enough. Now, they're in talks for plans to develop it further - such as by adding "office space, a commercial centre with retail shops, four to five hotels and a resort or theme park". This is getting disturbing. Why can't they just let it remain as it is and not transform it into some money-making machine?

So I guess a few years later, those trees in this picture are going to be replaced by concrete, cement, bricks and...more concrete. As if we don't have enough of it already.
